Rex Materials&#8217; covers are hinged for easy access. They use a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rexmaterials.com\/activek\/PYROLITE-c39\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PYROLITE<\/a>\u00a0ceramic fiber element module retained in a steel shell.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rexmaterials.com\/activek\/PYROLITE-c39\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PYROLITE<\/a>\u00a0is extremely buoyant in molten aluminum.<\/p>\n<p>All cover assemblies are provided with a 2000\u00b0F (1090\u00b0C) woven ceramic gasket where they rest on the top of the launder. This is to minimize both heat loss and potential cover gas outflow.<\/p>\n<p>Rex Materials supplies a trough heater system that is incorporated into the launder covers. The covers are designed to heat the surface of the refractory to the target metal temperature of 1300\u00b0F (700\u00b0C) to ensure optimum starting conditions.
