Tokomak Cryogenic Solutions
Safeguarding Extreme-Cold Operations with CryoTherm®
Alkegen cryogenic insulation solutions protect critical systems that transport liquefied gases at temperatures near absolute zero (≈ −269 °C). In environments where even the smallest loss of thermal efficiency can mean wasted resources and compromised performance, Alkegen delivers proven reliability.

Industry & Application: Tokomak Power Generation for Helium Transfer Lines

Challenge
The ITER project—the world’s largest experimental tokamak fusion reactor—depends on cryogenic lines to move super-cooled helium from plant to reactor systems. This 1.6 km network distributes the cold power needed for multiple ITER components, requiring sophisticated design and insulation to perform reliably under extreme conditions.

Our Solution:
Partnering with Air Liquide, Alkegen drew on decades of cryogenic expertise and prior collaboration at CERN to develop insulation optimized for ITER’s transfer lines. Using CryoTherm® technology and double-aluminized polyester film, the solution provides the thermal efficiency needed to transfer super-cooled helium safely and effectively.
