Alkegen Inside
Serving industries where high performance is non-negotiable
Alkegen’s portfolio of needlefelts can be found in almost all industries, serving industrial, commercial, and critical operations. Our needlefelt media is often inside the process, protecting equipment, people, and the planet with filtration, noise management, fire protection and safety applications. There are not many places you won’t find Alkegen inside!
AEROSPACE & AUTOMOTIVE
From hydraulic transmission units to vehicle and aircraft cabin interiors, our materials filter, protect and provide comfort and safety.
CEMENT, LIME & GYPSUM
Widely used in kilns, mills, clinker coolers, and many other applications where high temperatures, aggressive gases and other contamination creates demanding environments. Our GUTSCHE porotex® filter media has proven on a global scale to clean the air, and recover and recycle the separated products.
BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION
Widely specified inside buildings for sound insulation and fire-blocking in floors, walls and roofing. Our breathable and waterproof nonwovens protect against noise and humidity while simultaneously allowing air exchange.
COAL FIRED POWER
Customised filter solutions are required to keep the air clean and dry in coal-fired power stations as the lignite and hard coal can differ with regard to their composition, depending on where they are extracted from.
POWER, WASTE & RDF
Our highly efficient filter materials and bags are used in municipal waste, RDF, and modern Waste-to-Energy plants. Central to optimised flue gas cleaning systems, they are used to chemically neutralise harmful gases, reduce pollutants and heavy metals, and remove particulates in the gas, with an efficiency of greater than 99.99%.
CHEMICAL, FOOD & PHARMA
We help customers to meet the highest standards during the production, manufacturing and handling of food, pharmaceuticals, and chemical where grinding, granulation and packaging processes place special demands on filter media.
METALLURGY
The steel and non-ferrous metal industry use bag filters in primary steel production at the dedusting of sintering belts, blast furnaces, electric arc furnaces as well as basic oxygen converters. With secondary steel production the bag filters are used in the dedusting of electric arc furnaces, cupola furnaces, rotary furnaces and other supporting processes.
NICHE MARKETS
We offer customized solutions across various niche markets, driven by a one-stop agency approach. All our materials can be customized into finished products or components; cut, shaped, and finished to meet each customer’s unique design specification.
Protection for People, Planet and Processes
Decades of experience, a trusted portfolio and true custom capability makes us the go-to supplier of technically advanced materials for leading manufacturers and specifiers worldwide.
Emissions control
Our revolutionary fiber-based materials optimize emissions control and management of airborne particulates; reducing pollution in and around your operations and workforce as well as within the wider environment. Our materials deliver near-zero emissions, meet strict environmental and safety protection standards, and reduce operational costs such as energy reduction and lower maintenance costs.
Cleaner liquids
Liquid filtration is a critical process in many sectors, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, power generation and automotive, where it ensures product purity, equipment protection, and regulatory compliance. We provide filtration materials for mechanical, depth, surface, membrane, and specialty filtration to manage specific particle sizes and process requirements.
Noise Management
Made from recyclable fibers, we manufacture acoustical solutions that are very effective in sound insulation and noise reduction. Our materials meet the highest performance, environmental and safety standards including flame resistance. Used across automotive, aerospace, construction and other industries.
Heat & Safety
When people need protection from dangerous environments, only the best is good enough. Our technical nonwovens are used in fire-blocking, anti-vandalism, protective clothing and PPE, as well as other special purpose solutions. Our materials offer maximum protection from heat, sparks, chemicals or from sharp objects.

from the fiber up
We manufacture our materials from a wide range of raw synthetic and natural fibers, which can be customized into single, blended or composite materials for standard duty, and chemically aggressive or high-temperature applications. We engineer needlefelts in high-efficiency and high-density constructions, including grades up to 4,000 gsm, with fine and microfibre options where tighter capture is required. See our full list of fibers below.
optimize materials
We offer a range of high performance treatments to enhance felt properties including calendaring, heat setting, singeing, coatings and membranes, and lamination. These provide resistance against heat, sticky dust and particles, aggressive chemicals and acids, liquids and sparks. Additionally, our coatings can increase stiffness, tensile/tear strength, and pleatability and dimensional stability of the product. With PFAS-Free alternatives, our materials are also heavily used in sectors where chemical-free materials are required.
HIGH TEMPERATURE FIBERS
PTFE
PTFE is considered the ‘ultimate’ fiber due to its exceptional chemical and thermal resistance.
With the right chemical composition, it can operate continuously at temperatures up to 250°C/480°F.
Suitable applications: Combustion, Power generation, Incineration, Coal-fired boilers, Cement, Chemicals
Meta Aramid
Meta Aramid is a high temperature resistance fiber, with maximum continuous use up to 200ºC/390ºF.
Best suited for dry conditions, this medium needs extra care when moist and acid environments are combined in the high temperature range, the maximum resistance temperature must be limited to avoid deterioration by acid attack and hydrolysis.
Suitable applications: Asphalt, Lime, Cement, Foundries, Steel smelting & Non-ferrous, Chemicals
Para Aramid
Para Aramid is a high temperature resistance fiber, with maximum continuous use up to 200ºC/390ºF.
Polyimide
Polyimide is a high temperature resistance fiber which under dry conditions can be operated up to 220°C/430°F.
With the unique multi-lobal cross section, this medium offers greater surface area, resulting in higher filtration efficiency.
Suitable applications: Power Generation, Metallurgical, Waste Incineration, Straw Burning, Clinical Incineration, Cement, Lime
PPS
PPS is a high temperature resistance fiber with a continuous use temperature up to 160ºC/320ºF.
It is optimal for combustion processes providing excellent acid and thermal resistance.
In the presence of high levels of oxygen and/or nitrogen oxide, the maximum resistance temperature must be limited to avoid irreversible degradation of the fiber.
Suitable applications: Combustion, Power Generation, Incineration, Coal-Fired Boilers, Cement, Dryers
Polyester
Polyester is the most versatile, cost-effective and widely used filter media for dust collection. This strong, abrasion-resistant medium can work up to 150ºC/300ºF and has good resistance to common acids, solvents and oxidizing agents.
When moist gases are combined in the high temperature range, the maximum resistance temperature may be limited to avoid deterioration by hydrolysis
Suitable applications: Dusts, Wood, Lead, Quarrying, Fertilizers, Metal Processing, Grain Handling, Tobacco, Ceramics, Vacuum Systems, Flour, Gypsum
MID TEMPERATURE FIBERS
Homopolymer Acrylic
Our Homopolymer Acrylic is a medium temperature resistance fiber with continuous use temperatures up to 120ºC/250°F. The fiber properties allow for excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance.
Suitable applications: Asphalt, Cement, Quarrying, Limestone, Smelting
LOW TEMPERATURE FIBERS
Polypropylene
Polypropylene has the lowest temperature resistance rating among common fibers, with a continuous operating temperature up to 90ºC/195ºF, but it exhibits one of the best chemical resistances, with excellent resilience against acids, alkalis and hydrolysis.
