Bico Fibers
Bicomponent fibers combine two distinct polymers within a single fiber, typically in a core-sheath or side-by-side configuration, allowing the physical and chemical properties of both to be exploited in one substrate.
Their primary function in needlefelts is as thermal binders, structural reinforcement, or to introduce specific surface properties such as softness, hydrophilicity, or crimp. Operating temperature varies depending on the polymer combination selected.
Performance and temperature limitations should be confirmed for each specific polymer pairing before specifying for a critical application.
Suitable applications: Filtration bonding layers, Acoustic media, Automotive interiors, Hygiene and medical substrates, Technical composites
Bico-Polyester
Bico-Polyester is a bicomponent fiber with a standard polyester core and a lower-melt polyester sheath, engineered specifically to act as a thermal binder within needlefelt structures.
